Who We Are

The Cambridge Center for Chinese Culture(CCCC) is a non-profit organization registered in Massachusetts, USA, by Chinese scholars. It aims at promoting Chinese culture, advance the status of Chinese-Americans, and promote US-China. relations through Chinese language education, publication, and cultural exchange.

The Board of Trustees of the CCCC consists of Humin Ji as President, Kai Tao as Vice-President, Shiping Zheng, Ruohong Li, Yu Feng, Gail Wiggins and Deborah Kuhn as members. Hong Zhou and Xiaozhong Zhou are Honorary Chairmen of the Board of Trustees of the CCCC.

Chinese Language Teaching

The Cambridge Chinese School, a subsidiary of the CCCC, is devoted to Chinese language teaching. Established in 1991, the Cambridge Chinese School is the first school on the east coast for teaching elementary, middle and high school students standard Chinese pronunciation, simplified characters, and the Chinese phonetic alphabet. With the help from the City of Cambridge and through years of hard work by teachers and staff members, the Cambridge Chinese School has evolved from a small after-school class with one teacher and seven students to a regular educational institution of a dozen teachers and one thousand students. It offers after-school, weekend as well as summer program. Today the Cambridge Chinese School has registered with the state of Massachusetts, and has become a member of the Chinese School Association in the United States(CSAUS).

Publication and Distribution

Founded in 1998, "American-Chinese: Society & Culture" is a Chinese-English academic journal published quarterly by the Cambridge Center For Chinese Culture and the Institute of American -Chinese Cultures.

Beginning in 1999, CCCC publishes and distributes "Cambridge Forum", the newsletter of the Cambridge Chinese School.

In 1999, CCCC also launched its web site on the Internet. The web address is: www.bostoncccc.org.

Cultural Exchange

Since its establishment, the CCCC has actively participated in activities and programs of scholarly and cultural exchanges between schools, regions and countries. These activities and programs include: sponsoring of large academic conferences and small seminars, setting up a China booth in an international fair, arranging performance in the Boston area by top Chinese artists, organizing in the New England area the celebration for the handover of Hong Kong, taking part in the grand parade celebrating the 150th anniversary of the City of Cambridge.

By playing an important role in these activities and programs, the CCCC has made a valuable contributions to promoting solidarity among various Chinese-American organizations and fostering mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese and American people.
